I am looking at this Merlin silencer for my Westfield which is roadgoing. Can you advise why these are not suitable for road use ?
The reasons they are not road legal is because the end caps are removable to allow the silencer to be repacked and the end cap often has a slight exhaust leak. This is not a problem on a race car but could be on a road car when the MOT is due. Also the Merlin silencers are light weight and slightly fragile where the end caps bolt to the body, the silencer body will need to be supported in the middle to take the weight off the ends.
